C2E2 & Drawing Dreams 2014
In less than two weeks, C2E2, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, will once again be upon us! And just like last year, Chicago Loot Drop has something very special planned for the con. Once again, we’ve partnered with five talented local artists to bring to life the creative visions of five very special patients from Comer Children’s Hospital for the second edition of Drawing Dreams. We’ve asked these five children to describe themselves as a superhero. What sort of power(s) would they have? What would they do with those powers? What would their superhero name be? We took their responses to our five artists, who are creating a few panels depicting what a comic book based on the children’s’ ideas could look like.
This year, we’re honored to have three returning artists from 2013’s Drawing Dreams: Tim Seeley, Heidi Foland and Jim Terry. Joining them this year are Jeff Couturier and Rich Kunz.
TIM SEELEY is one of those “slash” people … a writer-slash-artist. He has drawn a number of different comic book series including G.I JOE, HALLOWEEN, THE DARK ELF TRILOGY, EXILES, and WILDCATS. His writing work includes LOVEBUNNY & MR.HELL, LOADED BIBLE and ANT-MAN/WASP. He is most known for Revival & HACK/SLASH, which he considers a blessing/curse. There’s that slash again. He resides in Chicago, Illinois with his wife Gina, and a closet full of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE figures.
HEIDI FOLAND is an Illustration graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is currently working for the local Chicago game design industry as a freelance illustrator and professional lurker.
JIM TERRY is a Chicago-based cartoonist/writer who has worked on THE CROW: SKINNING THE WOLVES and numerous independent titles including LIE DOWN LOW and COMA D. CLOWN. You can see his work at www.woundedbutdangerous.com.
RICH KUNZ is a high school art teacher and freelance artist from the Chicagoland area. He has always been interested in the comic book medium and has been actively attending conventions for the past three years. Rich has worked on a wide range of private commissions and has recently completed original sketch card art for Marvel Comics and HBO through Rittenhouse Archives. You can view much of Rich's portfolio on his company website www.diligentvisual.com.
JEFF COUTURIER is a comic artist and designer, curator of the Comic Creators Group, and resident indie comic geek for the Universal Geek podcast. Follow him on Twitter @jeffcouturier.
Curious what these artists came up with? Come by our booth at C2E2! We’ll be in the Fan Village, raffling off this one-of-a-kind artwork along with a host of other awesome stuff from comic books to video games. Oh, and did we mention that our booth is the only place to get one of our super-classy t-shirts?
The Fan Village is in the Grand Ballroom on Level 1. We're in booth FV3020 (Floor Plan).
We’ll see you at the con!
